Day 2: Landmannalaugar Adventure

Start your day early by 7 am to allow ample time for hiking and exploring the area. Drive on Iceland’s F-roads for the first time, with the final 26 km being a rough, gravel road. Once in Landmannalaugar, choose from a variety of hikes, with the Blue Peak and Brennisteinsalda being top recommendations. On the drive back to the Golden Circle, make a detour to visit Sigöldugljufur, a stunning canyon with a wall of waterfalls, and Háifoss, one of the tallest waterfalls in Iceland. To minimize driving time, consider staying between Hvolsvöllur and Skógar, where you can choose from hotels like Hotel Selja, The Garage, or Lindartun Guesthouse. Each of these options offers modern amenities and a convenient location for exploring the south coast sights.

Day 8: Glacier Hiking Adventure
Embark on an epic glacier hiking adventure in Iceland. Choose between a hike at Solheimajökull for a shorter journey or go for the impressive Vatnajökull glacier for a longer and more challenging experience. We opted for the Glacier Explorer tour with Arctic Adventures, where we spent three hours walking through crevasses and climbing over massive chunks of ice. If you have the energy, you can also hike to Svartifoss in Skaftafell and visit Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, Fjallsárlón Glacier Lagoon, and Diamond Beach. For those looking for a convenient option, Solheimajökull is much closer to the south coast and offers a great glacier hiking experience without extensive driving.
